Barry Meade
Of Counsel
Barry Meade is of counsel to the firm. Prior to his association with the firm, he was a former Partner at French & Casey, LLP, a well known and respected defense litigation firm.
He represents clients in a wide range of commercial and insurance defense litigation, with particular emphasis on construction related issues. Mr. Meade has successfully represented major construction companies and property owners in multi-million dollar tort claims, as well as successfully defending product liability claims brought against product manufacturers, including manufactures of construction equipment and office and hospitality furniture. Additionally, he has successfully defended a private organization against a civil claim for damages based upon allegations of sexual assault and improper supervision.
Mr. Meade has served Pro Bono as an Arbitrator with the New York County Lawyers’ Association to resolve attorney-client disputes in accordance with the Joint Committee on Fee Disputes and Conciliation.
Mr. Meade is admitted to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey, as well as before the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and New York County Lawyers’ Association.
Mr. Meade has published a number of articles. He was the winner of the 1997 NYSBA James A. Coon writing competition, wherein he authored New York Connects Cellular Telephone and Public Utility: The Extension of the Public Necessity Standard to the Siting of All Public Utility Facilities, Municipal Lawyer Vol. II, No.3, May/June 1997. He also authored Double Jeopardy Prohibition Included in a Extradition Treaty and Decree is Not a Bar to Sufficiently Separate Offenses Even Though Similar Evidence Presented in Prior Foreign Prosecution Forms Basis of Subsequent U.S. Prosecution, a comment on U.S. v. Jurado-Rodriquez, 9 New York International Law Review 123 (Summer 1996).
Mr. Meade received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from St. John’s University in 1981, and an Advanced Certificate in Energy Management from New York Institute of Technology in 1995. He received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1997, where he was Executive Notes & Comments Editor of the New York International Law Review, and an editor of the New York Real Property Law Journal.
